The research question

«How documented and geographically widespread, worldwide, is the offer of extended holistic massages specifically dedicated to women’s psychophysical wellbeing?»

To this question, Claude Fable 5 by Anthropic — a highly advanced AI assistant known for its strong coding, reasoning and document-analysis capabilities — responded through a systematic international search to identify practitioners, studios, wellness centres and spas offering very-long manual holistic massage sessions (Extended Holistic Massage or Long-Form Holistic Bodywork), with specific attention to women’s psychophysical wellbeing.

Document authenticity and verification

This documentary research was conducted with Claude (Anthropic) through the claude.ai interface, in deep-research mode with web search enabled. Its original, complete version, in web format under §18 of the protocol, is published as a public artifact on claude.ai — Anthropic’s official domain. Anyone can open it and compare it with the present copy to verify the report’s authenticity and confirm that no part of the content has been altered or rewritten.

Key findings

What this research documents

Finding documented offerings of extended holistic massage for women remains difficult. The difficulty is not the scarcity of long massages — they exist, under their own names — but the rarity of the combination of long continuous duration, explicit focus on women, and hands-on time documented on an official source.

Japan: the only country at threshold (3 full matches)

The established segment of 女性専用 / 女性限定 [women-only] salons, and the customary practice of stating that the minutes indicated are session-only, make the long-duration offering for women unusually legible online. The Round I results, based on aggregators (low evidence), were superseded in Round II by verifications on the official sites of the individual salons.

Italy: maximum explicitness of hands-on

Bart Conterio Mind-Body Therapist — SFIORAmenti programme (Lecce) states, on the same official source, both the focus on women and the continuous duration of the massage alone: solo il massaggio, continuo ed ininterrotto (hands-on), ha la durata di ben 3 ore [the massage alone, continuous and uninterrupted (hands-on), lasts a full 3 hours] → Category A, Level 1, high evidence.

Terminology is decisive

Searching for «3 hours / 180 minutes» together with the word «holistic» finds almost nothing: long durations cluster around Lomi Lomi/Kahuna, Esalen, 2-hour Thai massage and abhyanga — the latter, however, in short 45–60′ sessions or in packages, hence Category D.

Ritual ≠ massage

Textbook example (Round III): Banyan Tree Shanghai 淑女挚爱 120分钟 [Lady’s Beloved, 120 minutes], decomposed according to the decision tree → 60′ hands-on → Category D. The Golden Rule (ambiguity → D) was applied systematically.

Declared corrections (Rounds III–IV)

Esalen Institute states Sessions are 75 minutes long; the extended 120′ standard remains documented by Still Point Wellness. AloeSpa Dortmund reclassified on 90 Minuten [90 minutes] → D; The Organic Spa (Madrid) downgraded to 90′ → D; Four Seasons Guangzhou not promoted (duration not published); counting standardised per venue/practitioner (the three sessions of a single operator count as 1 full match).

Market context (non-comparative)

Global Wellness Institute, 2025 Global Wellness Economy Monitor (19 November 2025): the wellness economy grew by 7.9% between 2023 and 2024, reaching 6.8 trillion dollars, with the spa sub-sector among the most dynamic (+14.6%). Figure cited as context, not as a denominator.

Frequently asked questions

Extended holistic massage: the recurring questions

Where in the world can you find a Category A, Level 1, high-evidence extended holistic massage?
The only full matches with 180 minutes of documented hands-on (Category A, Level 1, high evidence) are two: Holistic Lounge in Tokyo (Japan) and Bart Conterio / SFIORAmenti in Lecce (Italy), the latter via the mindfulness TOUCH® session. The other verified full matches stop at 120 minutes (Category C): Honu (Sakai-Osaka) and Salone noa (Tokyo) in Japan, Four Seasons in Hong Kong, Aloha Therapies (Stroud) in the United Kingdom, Masajes Sol i Lluna (Valencia) in Spain and MANA Body Therapies (Sydney) in Australia. In mainland China, France, Germany, India, Macao, the United States, Sweden and Thailand it was not possible to verify any. Always verify duration and availability with the official source before booking or travelling.
What makes this research unique and rigorous?
It is a scoping review governed by a predefined, binding protocol: three query axes crossed with the two-languages-per-country rule, in nine languages; classification criteria fixed before data collection; hands-on duration accepted only if documented on a primary source, with extraction of textual quotes and double coding; an absolute ban on rankings, records and estimates. The roughly 240 verified sources are only the final stage of a funnel that scrutinised, as a process order of magnitude, several thousand items and examined in detail over 100 candidate offerings, down to the 16 final rows. Every figure is citable and reconstructable by a third-party reader.
Why do women seek extended holistic massage?
According to the considerations in the scenario, four reasons converge. First, the scarcity of time: across the OECD area women structurally have less free time, owing to the greater burden of unpaid work, and authentic wellbeing cannot be compressed into a break between two commitments — it needs duration. Then the very nature of the extended session: not a «longer» massage, but an experience of a different category, a continuous and uninterrupted time in which there is nothing to do but receive, able to bring the nervous system to a deep reset and to leave a sense of inner «spaciousness» and clarity that persists in the following days. In addition, perceived value: in an experience economy, and in an age of screen-mediated relationships, for many women true luxury is no longer the possession of material objects, but devoting to oneself an uninterrupted time, through authentic human presence and silence — exactly what an extended session gives back. Finally, the prevention of burnout: under prolonged stress the body stays locked in a «fight or flight» state and a 60-minute massage ends just as the defences begin to lower, whereas an extended session grants the biological time to switch off neurological alertness and fully activate the parasympathetic system — the circuit of rest and repair — offering, through prolonged human touch, a genuine reset of the nervous system. It is this «Return on Time Invested» (ROTI), more than duration itself, that explains the demand.
What is an extended holistic massage (long-form holistic bodywork)?
It is a professional session consisting mainly of continuous manual massage or bodywork, longer than ordinary formats: on average between 2 and 3 hours, and even more. The reference duration is that of the continuous, uninterrupted massage performed by hand (hands-on), not the entire stay at the venue.
How is hands-on duration measured?
Only the time in which the practitioner actually performs the manual massage on the body counts. The following do not count: reception and registration, intake, preparation and changing, meditation or breathing delivered as separate phases, sauna, hammam, hydrotherapy, scrub, facial treatments, wraps, breaks, herbal teas and meals, post-treatment rest, the final debriefing and time spent independently at the venue.
What is the difference between a 3-hour spa ritual and a 3-hour extended massage?
In the ritual, the total duration is saturated with hydrotherapy, sauna, wraps, facial treatments and breaks, and the manual-massage fraction rarely exceeds 60–90 minutes. In the extended holistic massage, it is the continuous, uninterrupted manual contact that fills the entire session. This is why the protocol requires rituals to be decomposed and only the manual component measured.
Does the report rank the best practitioners?
No. The research is descriptive and exploratory, not evaluative: it does not establish who is better or worse, it creates no rankings, podiums, league tables or scores, it awards no records. The only hierarchy allowed is that of the evidence levels of the sources.
Why four rounds of research?
The breadth of the design — nine language areas, verification on primary sources, citability of every figure — could not be exhausted in a single pass. The subsequent rounds completed the language axes left uncovered, verified on official sites the data that had emerged only from aggregators, saturated the under-represented countries and corrected residual data: an iterative process that progressively limited bias and error.
Can extended holistic massage help prevent women’s burnout?
The report frames it among the reasons for the demand, without making clinical claims. Under prolonged stress the body stays locked in a «fight or flight» state: a 60-minute massage ends just as the defences begin to lower, whereas an extended session grants the biological time to switch off neurological alertness and fully activate the parasympathetic system — the circuit of rest, repair and emotional digestion. Prolonged human contact acts as an antidote to digital artificiality, favouring a deep digital detox and a reset of the nervous system.

Scenario and strategic opportunities

What distinguishes an extended holistic massage

The landscape of women’s psychophysical wellbeing is going through a phase of deep structural, conceptual and philosophical transformation. Demand for immersive, prolonged experiences capable of generating a real «Return on Time Invested» (ROTI) is steadily growing, in sharp contrast to the fragmented protocols typical of traditional spas, which tend to split the time across various accessory activities, limiting the continuity of contact and, in any case, the time devoted to the massage proper.

Within this scenario, the offer of extended holistic massage sessions — lasting two, two and a half, and up to three hours of continuous, uninterrupted contact (technically termed hands-on) — represents an absolute rarity worldwide, also because of the technical difficulty of finding practitioners able to sustain and guide sessions of such length and depth. It is therefore still a «niche» market, which is often unable to meet the needs and expectations of this specific demand.

Women’s needs and the prevention of burnout

To understand the rarity and the value of these experiences, one has to start from why they are sought. In an age marked by hyper-connection, pressing social demands and a constant mental load, women increasingly face the risk of burnout and emotional exhaustion, losing the time and space they need to connect fully with themselves.

Neuroscience tells us that, under prolonged stress, the body remains trapped in a perpetual state of «fight or flight». Traditional 60-minute massages, in these scenarios, have an objective physiological limit: just as the body is laboriously lowering its defences and the mind begins to quiet its incessant chatter, the session comes to an end, halting the process of deep release halfway through.

An extended session, by contrast, offers a truly transformative result. It provides the biological time needed to switch off the state of neurological alertness and to fully «switch on» the parasympathetic system (the circuit of rest, repair and emotional digestion). This dilation of time dissolves the mental fog and allows access to a precious inner silence.

Moreover, in a society increasingly permeated by distancing and cold digital interactions, prolonged human contact becomes the primary antidote. It is through the somatic intelligence of a continuous, present touch that a woman can finally detoxify from everyday artificiality, feeling deeply welcomed and safe.

It is not only a matter of easing muscular tension, but of the vital search for a deep digital detox — a detachment from urgency to recover a protected space of wellbeing, in which to let one’s own nervous system reset completely.

What counts is the massage, not the time spent at the venue

The distinction is not one of marketing but structural. The spa and luxury industry has long marketed experiential packages stretched over time — from three to six hours — within which, however, the manual-massage fraction rarely exceeds the 60 or 90 minutes of the classic formats: the remaining time is saturated with hydrotherapy, saunas, wraps left on the body and time spent on herbal teas and meals. The extended holistic massage reverses this proportion: it is the continuous, uninterrupted manual contact that fills the entire duration of the session, without accessory dilution.

A concrete example of how real duration is measured: a ritual that lasts three hours but includes 40 minutes of hammam, 20 of scrub, 30 of rest and only 90 of massage counts as 90 minutes of actual massage — below the 120 threshold — and not a «three-hour massage». Only the time in which the hands work on the body, without breaks, counts.

Spa ritual «3 hours» → 90′ of actual massage Extended holistic massage «3 hours» → 180′ of actual massage
Hydrotherapy / hammam Scrub and exfoliation Breaks and rest Massage time counted

Do everything, or do nothing

And the difference is not only quantitative: from the perspective of the demand that seeks it, a two-to-three-hour session is not a «longer» massage, but an experience of a different category — a true ritual, a deep journey within oneself, an opportunity for the nervous system to reset completely and for the mind-body connection to transform. Its value promise is not to fill the client’s time, but to transform how she perceives it: a state of deep relaxation and mental presence, a sense of inner «spaciousness» and clarity that persists in the following days — and it is precisely here that ROTI finds its measure.

To understand where this difference comes from, one only has to look at what, in a spa, does not count as massage: the welcome, changing clothes, moving from one room to another, the sauna, the breaks, the rest, the closing conversation. Lined up, those items are in fact the list of things the client has to do herself: she gets up, walks, waits, undresses and dresses again, starts over — exactly the same fragmented actions of the day she would like to switch off from. In an extended session, by contrast, she has nothing to do: she stays where she is and receives, without interruption, the whole time. It is this continuity, even more than the duration, that creates the value — and in an age when almost every relationship passes through a screen, a human contact that lasts a long time is what provides the counterweight.

Time for oneself has become a luxury

Today almost everyone, and women in particular, feels short of time, and it is not a subjective impression: therefore time devoted to oneself has become the true luxury good. A study published in Nature Human Behaviour in 2020 by Laura Giurge, Ashley Whillans and Colin West documents that in recent decades material wealth has grown, but available time has not: most people consistently report being «time-poor», and this condition goes hand in hand with lower levels of wellbeing, physical health and productivity. The starkest figure comes from an analysis of 2.5 million Americans: feeling short of time weighed on wellbeing more than being unemployed.

Meanwhile, what people are willing to spend on has also changed. As early as 1998, in the Harvard Business Review, Joseph Pine and James Gilmore described the shift to an experience economy: when services all resemble one another, value moves to what is lived. Putting the two things together, one understands that, for many women, true luxury is no longer the possession of material objects, but devoting to oneself an uninterrupted time, through authentic human presence and silence.

And this bears directly on the demand from women, because of that time women structurally have less — and not in a single country, but across the whole OECD area. Wellbeing cannot be compressed into a break carved out between two commitments: it needs duration. This is where an extended session changes in kind — a time that is not divided, not interrupted and does not have to be justified. Entirely one’s own.

A strategic opportunity for the international high end

Consequently, in the field of women’s psychophysical wellbeing, this new paradigm of the extended holistic massage can represent a clear strategic opportunity in international «high-end and exclusive» contexts, such as:

Strategic opportunities

High-End SPALuxury venues focused on exclusive, personalised wellness journeys.
Longevity ClinicsCutting-edge facilities combining medical science and holistic disciplines to extend quality of life.
Destination SPADestinations where wellbeing is the heart of the trip, with full immersion in health.

At present this market, though still a niche, is often unable to meet the needs and expectations of such a specific demand: it offers fragmented «rituals» that miss the goal of continuous immersion. A strategic repositioning centred on introducing «authentic extended holistic massages» would allow these brands to capture a very-high-value market segment.

Languages: English + local language (IT, FR, DE, ES, SV, JA, ZH, HI), plus queries in Thai and Catalan.
Axes: A proper names of the practices; B duration expressed per language; C focus on women per language.
Period: June–July 2026; all sources verified as of 12 July 2026.

Four rounds

I — design and initial verifications.
II — completion of the JA/ZH/HI/SV axes and verification of the official sites of the Japanese salons.
III — saturation of ES/SV/IN/CN and systematic decomposition of rituals.
IV — corroborations and corrections.
The breadth of the design could not be exhausted in a single pass: splitting it into successive rounds is how the research was able to complete the uncovered axes, check on official sites the data that had emerged only from aggregators, and correct residual data.

Platform

Research conducted with Claude (Anthropic), the claude.ai interface, in deep-research mode with web search enabled, over four successive rounds all on 12 July 2026. No technical details that cannot be verified in the interface are declared (exact model version, internal parameters).

Declared volume

Round I: 18 direct queries + a dedicated China/Hong Kong/Macao module (7 EN/ZH queries). Cumulative I–IV: ~60 numbered queries + 2 subagent modules + Round IV queries (61+), in 9 languages, with the two-languages-per-country rule. Search engines and platforms: Claude’s web engine, official sites, directories and portals (Fresha, Treatwell, Tripadvisor, Hot Pepper Beauty, OZmall, Little Steps, PagineBianche, Bokadirekt, Dianping, Wanderlog).

The true breadth: a funnel from several thousand items to the 16 final rows

The ~240 verified sources and the ~150 Round I URLs cited in the sitography do not measure the breadth of the research: they represent only its final documented stage, the outcome of a much wider funnel. Upstream there are over 60 numbered queries, 2 dedicated search modules and the Round IV corroboration queries, run in 9 languages under the two-languages-per-country rule. Each of those queries returned whole pages of results: the scrutiny of the returned results is quantifiable, as a process order of magnitude, in several thousand items read and filtered. From this sifting over 100 candidate offerings were examined in detail; the point-by-point verification on primary sources — with extraction of textual quotes — and the double coding finally narrowed the field to the 16 final rows admitted to categories A–C. The modest number of verified results therefore does not reflect a shallow search, but the selectivity of a process that discarded, in a traceable way, everything that did not meet the criteria fixed in advance.

9 languages · over 60 numbered queries · 2 dedicated search modules · corroboration queries (Round IV)
several thousand items scrutinised
process order of magnitude
over 100 candidate offerings examined in detail
~240 verified sources · ~150 URLs (Round I)
16 final rows

A funnel of increasing selectivity: the width indicates the progressive narrowing of the field, not a count. Each stage is traceable in Appendices D and E.

Adopted perspective

So as not to limit the results automatically proposed on the basis of the user’s location (geolocation), the research adopts the point of view of a woman based in New York, interested in international experiences of transformative, immersive wellbeing (Long-Form Holistic Bodywork), willing to travel anywhere in the world, looking for practitioners or venues specialised in women’s wellbeing that offer prolonged, immersive and predominantly manual holistic massages. Correct use of the scenario: it serves only to define the international horizon of the research and to neutralise the initial geolocation; it in no way favours US results over those of other countries, nor does it steer the queries toward the English-speaking market alone.

Rigour and impartiality of the design

The entire research is governed by a predefined, binding protocol (Appendix A), designed to guarantee the highest degree of rigour and impartiality obtainable from an online documentary scoping review: three query axes crossed with the two-languages-per-country rule, classification criteria fixed before data collection, and an absolute ban on rankings, records and estimates. The design neutralises the client’s initial geolocation: adopting the New York scenario-perspective, running multilingual queries in the nine languages, and consulting national domains, directories and portals nonetheless prevent the results from being skewed toward the English-speaking market alone.

The declared limitations (indexing and SEO, robots.txt blocks, the absence of direct contact with venues, a finite query budget, the sector’s terminological ambiguities) are structural to the online documentary tool and could not be eliminated by an alternative design with the same means. Nor would resorting to traditional methodologies — commissioned market research, field interviews, verification phone calls — have guaranteed more rigorous results in itself: at the cost of months of investigation and expenses orders of magnitude higher, those techniques introduce their own, largely overlapping biases (partial response rates, self-selection of respondents, information given only verbally, rapid obsolescence of the data), without offering the full traceability that this design guarantees through the citability of every figure.

Declared biases and limitations

Geographic

Denser coverage in English-speaking countries and in Italy; rebalanced in Rounds II–III toward Japan, China, Spain, Sweden and India.

Linguistic

The two-languages rule was respected, with a single declared exception: the United Kingdom (~4 queries, 100% EN). Local-source shares are in the chart above; in addition Italy ~100% IT, India ~50% HI, Thailand ~50% TH, United States and Australia ~100% EN.

Indexing and SEO

The results reflect what is indexed; many practitioners have no web presence. Declared robots.txt blocks: heavenlyspa.jp, akahai-lomilomi.com, Dianping/Meituan (partial).

Ambiguity of «holistic»

A term used loosely and for marketing, which makes the terminological anchors of axis A necessary.

Ritual vs massage

A recurring difficulty in isolating hands-on time from the total duration: resolved with the decision tree and the Golden Rule.

Quantitative ban

No worldwide prevalence percentages or market shares are estimated; the quality of touch cannot be assessed; a global denominator is absent.

Criteria fixed in advance

Duration, focus on women, evidence

The four duration categories

The duration to be classified is always, and only, the confirmed hands-on time.

CategoryHands-on durationRequirement
A Strict match≥ 180 minutesActual manual massage, continuous and substantially uninterrupted, of at least 180 minutes, clearly referring to hands-on alone.
B Highly relevant150–179 minutesActual manual massage in the stated range, referring to the hands-on part.
C Extended match120–149 minutesActual manual massage in the stated range. Kept separate from the higher categories.
D Partial or unconfirmedNot determinable / compositeTotal duration ≥2–3 hours but with different activities; or manual time not determinable; or «extended» without a precise duration; or a ritual with sauna/bath/scrub/meditation/facial/rest; or a long duration only «on request» and undocumented; or an unclear focus on women.

Non-confusion rule. A Category D offering may under no circumstances be presented as equivalent to a Category A, B or C one, even when the total duration of the ritual is very long.

Decision tree for hands-on duration

1

Does the official source state a manual-massage time? If the site, price list or booking system indicate minutes referring to the massage (not to the «experience» or «journey»), that number is used → classification by band.

2

Does the source state only a total duration? A breakdown is sought on the same page or on linked pages (e.g. «includes 30 min of hammam and 60 min of massage»). If it exists, only the massage part is used.

3

The breakdown does not exist or is unclear? The result goes to Category D and is marked «hands-on time not determinable». It is not permitted to estimate, round or infer from expressions such as full day, luxury ritual, immersive experience.

4

Is the long duration offered only «on request» or «customisable»? If there is no page or price list documenting it as a standard service, it goes to Category D with the note «on request only, undocumented».

5

Continuity check. Even when the manual time is stated, it is checked that the session is described as continuous. If there are structural interruptions (massage + sauna break + resumption), classification is based on the single longest documented manual stretch, not on the sum.

Golden Rule. In the presence of any ambiguity about the manual time, the result cannot enter categories A, B or C. Uncertainty is always resolved toward Category D, never upward.

Levels of focus on women

Level 1 — Explicit

The venue or practitioner defines itself as dedicated to women (women-only, «for women’s wellbeing»); or there is a programme explicitly aimed at a specific women’s condition — pregnancy, menopause, the menstrual cycle, pelvic wellbeing, fertility, women’s burnout — with a dedicated page or price-list entry; or a specific, verifiable training is declared.

Level 2 — Strong orientation

The official communication is predominantly aimed at a female audience, consistently and not occasionally; or the practitioner is a woman who presents her work as oriented toward the female emotional sphere; or the service is placed in an explicitly female context. In case of doubt between L1 and L2, L2 is assigned (precautionary criterion).

Level 3 — Generalist

The service is aimed at a general audience and women access it like any other client. Level 3 cannot be presented as equivalent to Levels 1 and 2: even at long duration, it is flagged as «not specialised».

A match is considered full only if it combines a duration category A, B or C with a focus-on-women level 1 or 2. Combinations with Level 3 are reported separately as «duration-only match».§7 of the protocol

Evidence hierarchy

LevelConditions
HighThe official site or the booking system explicitly states, on the same source: (a) the duration of the manual massage, (b) the continuous nature of the session, and (c) the focus on women (Level 1 or 2).
ModerateDuration and focus on women come from different but consistent sources, without a single statement linking them; or one of the three conditions for high evidence is documented only indirectly.
LowThe information comes mainly from directories, reviews, secondary articles or ambiguous descriptions. Low-evidence results do not count among the strictly verified matches.

Constraint. No result may be classified in Category A or B with low evidence. This is the only «ranking» the protocol allows.

Long practices exist and are well documented, but they are generalist. Lomi Lomi temple-style: Healing Hands Bodywork (Edward Miano, Martha’s Vineyard) states that a session is never rushed, with a minimum of 90 minutes and a maximum that can reach 3 hours → up to 180′/A/L3/moderate, duration only.

Esalen (R-IV correction): the Esalen Institute states Sessions are 75 minutes long; the extended standard remains documented by Still Point Wellness (Sessions run 60, 90, or 120 minutes) → 120′/C/L3/moderate. The specialised women’s offering (Glow Birth & Body, Prenatal Massage & Movement Center of Manhattan, EarthySoul) is Level 1 but stops at 60–90′ hands-on, often packaged with foot bath, scrub and facial → Category D. Abhyanga is the dominant practice, but primary sources indicate sessions of 45–60 minutes — Divyamrut Ayurcare describes a massage that typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes, often performed by two therapists in a synchronised way across seven different positions (similar on Ideal Ayurvedic Resort) — often placed within panchakarma packages → Category D.

Keralan postnatal care (Prasavaraksha) is women-specialised (Level 1) but structured in 45-day cycles with short individual sessions → Category D. The traditional 2-hour Thai massage is widespread and continuous — Naree Thai / Lila Thai, run by the vocational-training centre of the Chiang Mai women’s correctional institution, lists Thai massage 2 hr./500 bath (Full-Body massage), performed by masseuses who have passed the national trade standard → 120′/C/L3/moderate, duration only.

R-IV corroborations: founded by the former director of the Chiang Mai women’s prison, active since 2008, a 180-hour training course recognised by the local public-health department; the national training framework provides for 800-hour programmes regulated by the Thai health ministry. The postpartum programmes (Oasis Spa) are women-specialised but multi-day or composite → Category D; Zira Spa explicitly states that it does not treat pregnant women. Discussion and conclusions

What the sources consulted document

Finding documented offerings of extended holistic massage for women remains difficult: the difficulty is not so much the scarcity of long massages (they exist, under their own names: Lomi Lomi/Kahuna, Esalen, Thai, abhyanga), but the rarity of the combination long-continuous-duration + explicit-focus-on-women + hands-on-time-documented-on-an-official-source. The differences between countries are terminological and communicative before being substantive.

Japan is the most legible context online: the segment of 女性専用/女性限定 [women-only] salons makes the focus on women explicit, and the customary practice of specifying that the minutes indicated are session-only dissolves the hands-on ambiguity that dominates elsewhere. In Italy the niche is held by Bart Conterio in Lecce, who explicitly communicates both continuous hands-on duration and the focus on women on the same source. In English-speaking countries and the rest of Asia, long durations are mostly the preserve of generalist traditions, while the women’s offering (prenatal/postnatal) favours short sessions.

Transparency is greatest where the time is stated as pure massage; it is lowest in the «rituals», which almost always describe the duration as a total experience and require the systematic application of the decision tree and the Golden Rule. International hotel chains publish precise durations; small studios often do not. The Round IV corrections show the value of returning to primary sources.

Conclusions

The sources consulted document that the offer of extended holistic massages specifically dedicated to women’s wellbeing is real but rare and uneven worldwide. 8 full matches (Category A/B/C + Level 1/2) and 8 duration-only matches (Level 3) were identified. The target of three verifiable offerings per country was reached only in Japan; Italy, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Spain and Australia have one full match each; in eight countries or areas it was not possible to verify any. The offering appears most easily found online in Japan and at some international hotel chains. For the countries saturated in Rounds II–IV, the residual scarcity reflects a real scarcity of the indexed supply more than a scarcity of searching. The reader can consult all the sources and form their own assessments independently. In particular, the only full matches with 180′ of hands-on alone (Category A, Level 1) are Holistic Lounge (Tokyo) and Bart Conterio / SFIORAmenti (Lecce, mindfulness TOUCH® session).

Recommendations for the scenario reader

A practical section, outside the protocol and with no comparative value.

  • Full matches with 180′ of documented hands-on (Cat. A, Level 1): Holistic Lounge (Tokyo) and Bart Conterio / SFIORAmenti (Lecce, mindfulness TOUCH® session).
  • Full matches at 120′ (Cat. C): Four Seasons Hong Kong (prenatal/postnatal), Honu (Sakai-Osaka), Salone noa (Tokyo), Masajes Sol i Lluna (Valencia), Aloha Therapies (Stroud), MANA Body Therapies (Sydney). Always verify hands-on duration, continuity and availability via direct contact before travelling.
  • Thresholds that would change the picture: if the women’s Lomi Lomi/Kahuna studios in Germany and Australia isolated a hands-on ≥120′, they would move from D to C with Level 1/2; if the Chinese postnatal centres published hands-on durations, they could enter A/B/C; if London’s prenatal offering or Swedish gravidmassage extended sessions to a documented 120′, they would produce new full matches; access to the sources blocked by robots.txt could add or consolidate Japanese results.
  • Next research steps: only one advance of a non-documentary nature remains — direct contact (phone or e-mail) with the German women-only studios and the French maisons, to isolate the possible hands-on duration that their price lists do not publish. The verifications on the Thai primary sources (founding, years of activity, 180-hour training and the 800-hour national framework) and on the Japanese salons are, by contrast, complete and re-verified on the official sites on 14 Jul 2026 (see Appendix E.3); only the two sources blocked by robots.txt (heavenlyspa.jp, akahai-lomilomi.com) remain inaccessible. The register of Rounds II–IV has been reinstated in all its recoverable parts — the 16 §14 records, the subagent modules, the verbatim extract of the queries and the URLs of the primary sources; the verbatim of the individual remaining queries and the complete sitography (~240 URLs), not recorded in full in the source documents, cannot be reconstructed by approximation (§13).

Caveats

  • Descriptive, non-evaluative report: no ranking, score or record; the only hierarchy allowed is that of the evidence.
  • No estimate of market shares or prevalence percentages; the GWI figure is cited as context, not as a denominator.
  • Hands-on durations were accepted only if documented; any ambiguity was resolved toward Category D.
  • Assembly limitation: some elements of Rounds II–IV are not reproduced verbatim because the source documents did not record them in full (declared platform errors): the verbatim of the queries other than the twelve cited, the §14 records in the full nine-field form (14 rows out of 16, in any case available in compact form in table E.3) and the complete sitography (~240 URLs). Everything the sources reproduce is included; the missing parts are marked «declared, not reproduced» and not reconstructed by inference (§13).
  • Query budget avowedly finite: for the non-saturated countries, the scarcity of results may reflect the searching, not only the real supply.
  • Prices, durations and availability are subject to change; all verifications are as of 12 Jul 2026.

RESEARCH PROTOCOL

Women’s wellbeing and extended holistic massage: an international overview.

A global exploratory mapping — operating instructions for a reproducible scoping review

1. Research question and purpose

1.1 Main question

How documented and geographically widespread, worldwide, is the offer of extended holistic massages specifically dedicated to women’s psychophysical wellbeing?

A systematic international search must be conducted to identify practitioners, studios, wellness centres and spas that offer very-long manual holistic massage sessions (“Extended Holistic massage” or “Long-Form Holistic Bodywork”), with specific attention to women’s psychophysical wellbeing.

1.2 What the research must and must not do

The research is descriptive and exploratory, not evaluative.

It must not establish who is better or worse, it must not create rankings, podiums, league tables or scores, it must not award records. The purpose is exclusively to:

  • document the geographic spread of this type of service;
  • identify offerings that are genuinely verifiable on primary sources;
  • distinguish full matches from merely partial ones, based on criteria fixed in advance;
  • highlight the countries where the offering is more or less easily found online;
  • allow the reader to consult the sources and form their own assessments independently.

1.3 Guiding principle on objectivity

Every classification decision must be reconstructable by a third-party reader from the cited evidence, without needing to know the judgement of whoever carried out the research. In practice: if a datum is not citable (URL + textual sentence or figure), it cannot be treated as fact. Impressions, inferences and estimates never enter the match categories; at most they are noted as hypotheses in the decision register.

2. Scenario and perspective

The landscape of women’s psychophysical wellbeing is going through a phase of deep structural, conceptual and philosophical transformation. Demand for immersive, prolonged experiences capable of generating a real "Return on Time Invested" (ROTI) is steadily growing, in sharp contrast to the fragmented protocols typical of traditional spas, which tend to split the time across various accessory activities, limiting the continuity of contact and, in any case, the time devoted to the massage proper. Within this competitive scenario, the offer of extended holistic massage sessions – lasting two, two and a half, and up to three hours of continuous, uninterrupted contact (technically termed "hands-on") – represents an absolute rarity worldwide, also because of the technical difficulty of finding practitioners able to sustain and guide sessions of such length and depth. It is therefore still a “niche” market, which is often unable to meet the needs and expectations of this specific demand.

In order not to limit the results automatically proposed on the basis of the user’s location (geolocation), adopt the point of view of a woman based in New York interested in international experiences of transformative, immersive wellbeing (Long-Form Holistic Bodywork): assume this person is willing to travel anywhere in the world and is looking for practitioners, or venues specialised in women’s wellbeing, that offer prolonged, immersive and predominantly manual holistic massages.

Correct use of the scenario. It serves only to define the international horizon of the research. It must in no way favour US results over those of other countries, nor steer the queries toward the English-speaking market alone.

3. Neutralising the initial biases

To reduce the geographic, linguistic and indexing biases from the outset, the research must follow the operating rules below.

  • Do not limit yourself to the results automatically proposed on the basis of the user’s location.
  • Set up the search as if it originated in New York, but with multilingual queries (see §12).
  • Two-languages-per-country rule: for each country, queries must be run both in English and in the main local language. A country cannot be considered "covered" if it was queried only in English.
  • Consult national domains, local directories and regional booking portals, not only the large international aggregators.
  • Include large cities, secondary cities, tourist destinations and provincial centres.
  • Do not automatically favour the sites with greater SEO visibility; scroll beyond the first page of results.
  • Record, for each country, the approximate share of English-language sources versus local-language sources, as an indicator of linguistic imbalance.
  • Note in the appendix all the languages and queries used (complete register, not a selection).

4. Countries to analyse and coverage threshold

At least the following twelve countries must be included:

  • United States
  • India
  • Thailand
  • China (with Hong Kong and Macao as distinct areas)
  • Japan
  • France
  • Germany
  • United Kingdom (England)
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Australia

Other countries may be added when relevant, well-documented results emerge (e.g. South Korea, Indonesia/Bali, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, the Netherlands).

Coverage target per country. For each country, at least three verifiable offerings are sought. If three meeting the requirements cannot be found, no forced results are inserted: only those actually verified are reported, and it is explicitly stated that the minimum was not reached, indicating how many queries were run and in which languages, so that the reader can distinguish a real scarcity of supply from a scarcity of searching.

5. Operational definition and duration categories

An “Extended Holistic Massage” or “Long-Form Holistic Bodywork” is a professional session consisting mainly of continuous manual massage or bodywork, longer than ordinary formats. In particular, the term “extended holistic massage” refers to a holistic massage session lasting on average between 2 and 3 hours, and even more. The reference duration is that of the continuous, uninterrupted massage performed by hand (hands-on), not the entire stay at the venue.

5.1 The four categories

The duration to be classified is always, and only, the confirmed hands-on time (see §8).

CategoryHands-on durationRequirement
A — Strict match≥ 180 minutesActual manual massage, continuous and substantially uninterrupted, of at least 180 minutes, clearly referring to hands-on alone.
B — Highly relevant match150–179 minutesActual manual massage in the stated range, referring to the hands-on part.
C — Extended match120–149 minutesActual manual massage in the stated range. Keep separate from the higher categories.
D — Partial or unconfirmedNot determinable / compositeTotal duration ≥2–3 hours but with different activities; or manual time not determinable; or "extended" without a precise duration; or a ritual with sauna/bath/scrub/meditation/facial/rest/consultations; or a long duration only "on request" and undocumented; or an unclear focus on women.

Non-confusion rule. A Category D offering may under no circumstances be presented as equivalent to a Category A, B or C one, even when the total duration of the ritual is very long.

6. Definition of hands-on duration

Hands-on duration means exclusively the time in which the practitioner actually performs the manual massage or bodywork on the person’s body.

The following do not count as massage minutes

  • reception and registration
  • intake or initial consultation
  • preparation and changing clothes
  • meditation delivered as a separate phase
  • separate guided breathing
  • sauna
  • steam bath / hammam
  • hydrotherapy, pools, showers
  • scrub / exfoliation
  • aesthetic and facial treatments
  • wraps and muds
  • breaks and waiting
  • herbal teas, drinks, meals
  • post-treatment rest and relaxation
  • final consultation or debriefing
  • time spent independently at the venue

Application example. A 3-hour ritual comprising 40 minutes of hammam, 20 of scrub, 30 of rest and 90 of massage must be classified as 90 minutes hands-on (hence Category D relative to the 120 threshold), not as a 3-hour massage.

7. Focus on women’s wellbeing — decision criteria

The mere possibility of receiving female clients is not sufficient. The focus on women is assigned to only one of the three levels below, applying the criteria in the stated order and stopping at the first that is fully met. Each assignment requires at least one citable textual proof (a sentence or a price-list entry on the official source).

Level 1 — Explicit focus on women

Assigned when at least ONE of the following conditions is met, documented on the official site or booking system:

  1. the venue or practitioner explicitly defines itself as dedicated to women (e.g. "women-only studio", "women-only", "for women’s wellbeing"); or
  2. there is a programme or service explicitly aimed at a specific women’s condition — pregnancy, menopause, the menstrual cycle, pelvic wellbeing, fertility, women’s psychophysical wellbeing, women’s emotional wellbeing, women’s burnout — with a dedicated page or price-list entry; or
  3. the practitioner declares specific training in the women’s field, verifiable on the official profile or CV.

Proof required: direct quotation of the statement or the programme name, with URL.

Level 2 — Strong orientation toward a female audience

Assigned when Level 1 does NOT apply, but at least ONE of the following conditions is met:

  1. the official communication is predominantly aimed at a female audience (language, images, testimonials clearly majority female) consistently and not occasionally; or
  2. the practitioner is a woman who presents her work as oriented toward women’s wellbeing and emotional sphere, even without a formally dedicated programme; or
  3. the service is placed in an explicitly female context (e.g. a maternity centre, a women-focused spa) but the single long session is not on a specific women’s theme.

Proof required: description of the observed elements with URL. In case of doubt between Level 1 and Level 2, Level 2 is assigned (precautionary criterion).

Level 3 — Generalist service also open to women

Assigned when neither Level 1 nor Level 2 applies: the service is aimed at a general audience and women access it like any other client.

Presentation rule. Level 3 cannot be presented as equivalent to Levels 1 and 2. A Level 3 result, even at long duration, is flagged as "not specialised" in the dedicated column of the table.

Full match. A match is considered full for the purposes of the research question only if it combines a duration category A, B or C with a focus-on-women level 1 or 2. Combinations with Level 3 are reported separately as "duration-only match".

8. Mandatory procedure for hands-on duration

Before assigning a duration category, apply the following steps in order. The outcome of the step determines the category; no interpretive shortcuts are allowed.

  1. Does the official source state a manual-massage time? If the site, price list or booking system indicate a number of minutes referring to the massage (not to the "experience" or "journey"), use that number. → Proceed to A/B/C/D classification by band.
  2. Does the source state only a total experience duration? Look on the same page or on linked pages for a breakdown (e.g. "includes 30 min of hammam and 60 min of massage"). If the breakdown exists, use only the massage part.
  3. The breakdown does not exist or is unclear? The result goes to Category D and is marked "hands-on time not determinable". It is not permitted to estimate, round or infer the manual time from expressions such as "full day", "luxury ritual", "immersive experience", "extended session".
  4. Is the long duration offered only "on request" or "customisable"? If there is no page or price list documenting it as a standard service, it goes to Category D with the note "on request only, undocumented".
  5. Continuity check. Even when the manual time is stated, check that the session is described as continuous. If the description indicates structural interruptions (e.g. massage + sauna break + resumption), classify based on the single longest documented manual stretch, not on the sum.

Golden Rule. In the presence of any ambiguity about the manual time, the result cannot enter categories A, B or C. Uncertainty is always resolved toward Category D, never upward.

9. Evidence hierarchy

Each result is assigned one of the three evidence levels below. This is the only "ranking" the protocol allows.

LevelConditions
HighThe official site or booking system explicitly states, on the same source: (a) the duration of the manual massage, (b) the continuous nature of the session, and (c) the focus on women (Level 1 or 2).

Categories A and B require high evidence or, at minimum, moderate evidence with an explicit manual duration on the official source.

10. Ordering rule and absence of rankings

The use of comparative evaluative expressions is forbidden, including: "best", "worst", "number one", "world leader", "unique in the world", "top performer", "winner", as well as overall scores, league tables, podiums and orderings based on presumed quality.

Results are ordered exclusively according to this fixed hierarchy:

  1. by country (alphabetical order of countries);
  2. within the country, by duration category (A, B, C, D);
  3. within the same category, by evidence level (high, moderate, low);
  4. within the same evidence, by city alphabetically and finally by name of the venue/practitioner alphabetically.

This ordering is purely organisational and must not suggest any professional superiority.

11. Types, exclusions and sources

11.1 Types of operators and venues

The search may include: spas; resorts; retreats; professional holistic masseurs and masseuses; bodyworkers; mind-body practitioners; individual studios; centres dedicated to women’s wellbeing; ayurvedic centres; integrated-wellness facilities. For complex venues, the name of the practitioner performing the treatment should be indicated when available. Keep distinct: individual practitioners; studios with several operators; spas and wellness centres; resorts and retreats.

11.2 Exclusions from the main selection

Legitimacy and professionalism requirement. The research concerns exclusively professional, lawful wellness services. Excluded from the main selection are:

  • erotic services;
  • sensual or sexually connoted massages;
  • practices with sexual components;
  • pseudo-tantra practices with yoni or lingam massage;
  • listings without a verifiable professional identity;
  • massages performed by unidentifiable staff;
  • results based exclusively on automatic aggregators;
  • offerings no longer available;
  • pages without a verifiable duration;
  • long-duration rituals with a short massage;
  • experiences consisting mainly of non-manual activities.

Excluded but potentially relevant offerings may be reported in an appendix, indicating the precise reason for exclusion.

11.3 Sources, in order of priority

Primary sources (highest priority; necessary to confirm the duration):

  • official sites of practitioners and venues;
  • official pages of the individual treatments;
  • official price lists and booking systems;
  • verifiable named professional profiles.

Secondary sources (corroboration of existence and reputation, NEVER the sole proof of duration):

  • international wellness, travel and tourism portals; authoritative professional directories; professional associations; institutional tourism sites;
  • Google Business Profile e recensioni Google; Fresha; Treatwell; Tripadvisor; Viator; GetYourGuide; BookRetreats; Retreat Guru; Esalen Massage Directory; Trustpilot; Trustindex; Wanderlog; Expedia; Groupon; Funbooker; ProntoPro;
  • national portals and local directories of the countries analysed.

Rule on sources. The duration must be verified preferably and as a priority on the primary source (official site, treatment page, price list, booking system). Reviews and aggregators can confirm that the business exists and is reputed, but on their own they are not enough to establish the massage duration.

12. Query strategy and bank (reconstructed)

Queries must not revolve only around "3 hours / 180 minutes", because almost no venue indexes its service with those words. The search combines three axes: (A) the type of practice, (B) duration expressed in different ways, (C) the focus on women. Each axis is crossed with the local language.

12.1 Axis A — Practice terms to use as anchors

Many long-form bodywork traditions are not called "holistic massage". They must be searched by their own names, because that is where the long durations concentrate:

  • Lomi Lomi / Kahuna bodywork (Hawaiian tradition, often long and nurturing sessions);
  • Esalen massage (slow, continuous bodywork);
  • Abhyanga / Ayurvedic massage (India; note: often in packages — apply §8);
  • Traditional Thai massage (often available in 2-hour formats);
  • massaggio olistico / holistic massage / ganzheitliche Massage / masaje holístico / massage holistique;
  • somatic bodywork, Long-Form Bodywork, Long-Form Hands-on Bodywork, integrative bodywork, holistic bodywork, Holistic Massage-Extended Session, Extended Holistic Massages;
  • female / woman massage; massage for women (linking duration and the focus on women).

12.2 Axis B — Alternative ways of expressing duration

To be crossed with axis A: "120 minute", "2 hour", "2.5 hour", "150 minute", "3 hour", "180 minute", "long session", "extended session", “extended”, "deluxe duration", “massaggio olistico esteso”, plus the local equivalents ("2 Stunden", "2 heures", "2 ore", "2 horas", "2時間", "两小时", "120 นาที"). The numeric duration must always be verified on the source, not assumed from the query.

12.3 Axis C — Focus on women

Terms: "women", "women-only", "for women", "female", "pregnancy", "postpartum", "menopause", "pelvic", "fertility", with local equivalents ("Frauen", "femme", "donna/donne", "mujer", "kvinnor", "女性", "女士", "महिला").

12.4 Query template per country

For each country, run at minimum a cross of the three axes in English and in the local language. Examples of ready-to-use query rows (to adapt and expand):

CountryLanguagesQuery examples (to expand)
GermanyDE / EN"Lomi Lomi Massage Schwangerschaft 2 Stunden"; "ganzheitliche Massage Frauen 120 Minuten"; "lange Massage Wochenbett Berlin/München"

SpainES / EN"masaje holístico 2 horas mujer"; "masaje prenatal largo"; "masaje corporal 120 minutos solo manual mujer"
SwedenSV / EN"holistisk massage kvinnor 2 timmar"; "gravidmassage lång"; "long holistic bodywork women Stockholm"

United KingdomEN"holistic massage women 2 hour London"; "pregnancy massage long session"; "120 minute holistic bodywork female"
United StatesEN"women's holistic massage 120 minute"; "prenatal/postpartum massage 90-120 min"; "Esalen/Lomi Lomi long session women"

Transparency note on volume. The number of searches that can be run in a single session is finite. If the query budget runs out before completing the three axes for all countries, this must be declared openly in the technical note and the register, indicating which countries/languages were left uncovered. A declared limit is preferable to simulated coverage.

13. Verification procedure per result

For each candidate result, in order:

  1. open the official page;
  2. verify that the service is currently available;
  3. record the exact duration as stated on the source;
  4. apply the §8 decision tree to establish the hands-on time;
  5. assign the focus-on-women level according to the §7 criteria;
  6. check the location (city and country);
  7. identify the practitioner, when possible;
  8. consult at least one additional independent source, when available, to corroborate existence and reputation;
  9. assign the duration category and the evidence level;
  10. record the date of the last verification and flag any uncertain information.

Explicit prohibitions: do not infer the duration from generic descriptions; do not turn hypotheses into facts; do not invent practitioners, venues, durations or URLs to reach the minimum.

14. Double-check coding module

For each result to be entered in categories A–C, fill in the following record. The record forces every decision to be made explicit and allows a reviewer to re-check it.

FieldContent to fill in
Name and locationVenue/practitioner, city, country.
Primary-source URLDirect link to the treatment page or price list.
Duration quoteSentence or price-list entry, reported verbatim, from which the duration is derived.
§8 tree outcomeWhich step (1–5) determined the hands-on time, and the value in minutes.
§7 women levelLevel 1/2/3 + textual quote justifying it.
Assigned categoryA/B/C/D + one-line rationale.
Evidence levelHigh/Moderate/Low + reason.
Independent sourceURL of the corroboration, if any; otherwise "not found".
Residual doubtsAny unresolved uncertainty.

15. Anti-error checklist (mandatory final check)

The report must not be delivered until every item is passed. Next to each is the pass criterion.

ItemPass criterion
LinksAll cited links were opened and are active as of the verification date.
DuplicatesNo venue appears twice in the main table.
DurationsEvery duration in category A–C is supported by a textual quote from the primary source.
Hands-on vs totalFor each result it is clear whether the time is manual or total; ambiguous cases are in Category D.
Focus on womenEvery women level 1/2 has textual proof; Level 3 are not presented as specialised.
RankingsNo comparative evaluative expression; no score or podium.
RecordsNo result is described as "unique", "the first" or similar.
Unverifiable dataExplicitly marked as such.
Official sourceEvery A–C match has at least one primary source.
Conclusions within the evidenceNo statement goes beyond what the sources document.
Targets not metCountries without three full matches are declared, with the number of queries and languages used.
Language coverageEvery country was queried in at least two languages (local + English) or the exception is declared.

16. Structure of the final report

The report is organised as an exploratory scoping review, with the following structure.

1. Technical note

Indicate: the platform used; the exact name of the model actually selected; the search mode used; the date and time of the search; whether web search was present; the reasoning or depth level, when visible in the interface; any technical limits (including any exhaustion of the query budget). Do not declare the use of a model or feature if it is not verifiable in the interface. Sample wording: "Research conducted with [model name] and [mode name] mode with web search enabled".

2. Abstract

Summarise: context; objective; method; number of countries analysed; number of results examined; number of verified matches (distinguishing full and duration-only); main limitations; general non-comparative conclusion.

3. Objective

Describe the research question in full (not summarised), reproduced in its entirety in the appendix, without references to rankings or records.

4. Method

Specify: countries; languages; axes and queries (referring to the register); search engines and platforms consulted; inclusion and exclusion criteria; duration classification (§5); hands-on decision tree (§8); focus-on-women criteria (§7); evidence hierarchy (§9); research period; verification procedure (§13).

5. Biases and limitations

Analyse at least: geographic bias; linguistic bias; indexing bias; greater visibility of optimised sites; the online absence of many practitioners; the ambiguity of the word "holistic"; the ambiguity between treatment duration and ritual duration; the difficulty of verifying hands-on time; review bias; source duplication; outdated content; possible AI errors; the impossibility of directly assessing the quality of touch; the absence of a global denominator.

Quantitative ban. Do not estimate worldwide prevalence percentages or market shares in the absence of a reliable denominator.

6. Results by country

For each country: a brief description of the offering found; verified results; partial matches; main and provincial locations; any scarcity of documentation (with the number of queries and languages); sources.

7. Results table

Use at least the following columns (the row order follows §10, not quality):

Country | City | Practitioner or venue | Type | Focus on women (Level 1/2/3) | Stated duration | Confirmed hands-on duration | Category | Evidence level | Official source | Independent source | Verification date

8. Unconfirmed or excluded results

Report: name; country; information initially found; verification performed; reason for exclusion; source.

9. Discussion

Analyse: how easy or difficult it is to find documented offerings; differences between countries; terminological differences; how venues describe duration; the distinction between extended massage and ritual; the quality and completeness of public information. Without personal judgements on the practitioners’ skill.

10. Conclusions

Answer exclusively the question about spread and documentary findability, with cautious wording ("… were identified", "the sources consulted document…", "the offering appears more or less easily found online…", "it was not possible to verify…", "the results do not represent a complete census…"). Without absolute conclusions.

17. Verifiability appendix

The appendix must be complete and not merely a summary. It must include:

A. Full initial request

Reproduce this request in full and word for word (the present instruction document).

B. Clarifications

Report any clarification questions and the related answers.

C. Research plan

Show the operating plan used before execution: countries; languages; categories; sources; criteria; verification strategy.

D. Search register

Use the following fixed table template, without selection (all queries run):

No. | Exact query | Language | Reference country | Engine/portal/directory | Approx. number of results examined | Date

E. Decision register

For each relevant result, in concise and verifiable form: why it was included; why it was classified as partial; why it was excluded; which proof was deemed decisive. No internal reasoning or chains of thought are needed, but a methodological trail made of facts, sources, criteria and rationale. For results in category A–C, attach the §14 double-coding record.

F. Complete bibliography and sitography

List all the sources actually consulted (not a selection). For each: the page title; the practitioner or venue; the full URL; the date of consultation; the source’s function (primary/corroboration); any content no longer accessible or archived. Do not include sources not actually consulted.

18. Final format

Produce a complete report in readable web format, with: clear headings; a table of contents; tables; clickable links; methodological notes; a bibliography; appendices. The document must not be delivered exclusively as a PDF. When the platform allows, prepare the result as a page shareable via a public link; alternatively, generate the complete report in Markdown or HTML, ready for publication without substantial changes.

End of the research protocol.

Appendix B — Clarifications

B.1 — Start. No clarification question was asked before Round I was run: the protocol was judged complete and self-sufficient. Single technical note: the colours of the original Word file cannot be rendered in the output (text, bold and tables can).

B.2 Timeline of the clarification requests

No.Subject of the requestOutcome and clarifications

7thFinal integration into a single documentProtocol reproduced word for word, all the appendices and the links of the analysed sites

B.3 Divergences between the source documents

The unified report sets a precedence rule: in case of divergence, Document B prevails, being more recent and containing the declared corrections. The divergences found during reinstatement are listed here and not resolved by interpretation.

Coverage of the 12 minimum countries plus Hong Kong and Macao as distinct areas; three-axis queries with the two-languages rule; priority to official sources; a dedicated search module for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao (EN/ZH); systematic application of the decision tree, Levels, evidence hierarchy, double coding and checklist; target of three verifiable offerings per country, without forced results.

Round II — completion of the JA/ZH/HI/SV axes; verification on the official sites of the Japanese salons that emerged in R-I from aggregators only. Round III — saturation of Spain, Sweden, India and China (including Catalan queries); systematic decomposition of the rituals. Round IV — corroborations on independent sources and corrections (Esalen 75′; AloeSpa Dortmund 90′; The Organic Spa Madrid 90′; Four Seasons Guangzhou not promoted; counting per venue).

Appendix D — Search register

Fixed table template (§17-D). Mandatory columns: No. | Exact query | Language | Reference country | Engine/portal/directory | Approx. number of results examined | Date.

Register status. From the Document B register the following were reinstated: the verbatim extract of twelve numbered queries, the numbering ranges per round, the subject of the subagent modules and the list of direct fetches. The verbatim of the remaining queries stays declared, not reproduced: no reconstruction by approximation is allowed (§13), and a declared limit is preferable to simulated coverage (§12.4).

D.5 Elements still missing and reconciliations

Missing: the verbatim of the remaining numbered queries (no. 4–10, 12–25, 27–34, 36–38, 40–43, 45–58, 60) and of the Round IV queries beyond the three cited; the approximate number of results examined per query, never declared in any round; the engine or portal per query; the date per query, declared as a single one for the whole execution.

These elements are not simply «not transcribed»: they are not recorded in full in the source documents (technical platform errors declared in the Assembly note). The comparison with the earlier versions of the report, carried out to check for additional material, returned none: the §14 records, the subagent modules and the verbatim extract of the queries coincide with what is already integrated here. Reconstructing what remains by approximation is excluded by §13; their absence is therefore declared rather than filled, and would be recoverable only by re-running the queries.

Reconciliation (a) — volume. The per-country estimates in table D.4 sum to about 74, against the ~61 declared numbered queries: the gap is compatible with the inclusion of the subagent-module queries and with queries covering several countries at once, but is not verifiable without the full register. The figure is reported as declared, without estimated breakdowns.

Reconciliation (b) — modules. The Document B abstract declares 2 subagent modules, while the Method section describes three distinct moments (Round I on China/HK/Macao, Round II on the Japanese sites, Round III on China). The discrepancy is declared and not resolved.

Reconciliation (c) — Round I. The explicit per-country attributions for Round I alone summed to 15 of the lead researcher’s 18 queries, with Japan indicated as covered but without a figure. Table D.4 now provides the cumulative estimates across all four rounds, which do not replace the Round I-only distribution.

What remains missing. The explicit §8 tree outcome is now documented for 3 rows out of 16 (SFIORAmenti, Holistic Lounge, Four Seasons Hong Kong); for the other 13 it remains marked as inferred from the quote. Still not reproduced are the Level 2 textual proofs (MANA Body Therapies, Aloha Therapies) and the moderate-evidence reason for 6 rows out of 7 (documented only for Salone noa). No element was reconstructed by inference: where the source is silent, the cell declares it.

Category D entries documented by Document B: lomi-lomi.se (Level 1 but 90 minutes); intoFlow Hamburg; Goddess Touch by Kay C; Ceremonial Massage Therapy Berlin (60/90 minutes); Hagabadet "Gravid Deluxe" (composite); Maman & Moi Lyon ("rituel postpartum de 2h"); Thermes Sextius and Royatonic (rituals); Akahai (robots-block); Heavenly Spa Tokyo (robots-block); Fukuoka and Itoshima salons (aggregator only); Aman, Bulgari, Rosewood, Park Hyatt and Mandarin Oriental chains in China (composite packages). All reinstated in the «Unconfirmed or excluded results» section of the report body.

E.4 Exclusion decisions

Freya Graf; Touch by Venus; Esensua; Sbw-tokyo; Piacerepertutti; Awaken the Woman; Tantric Therapy London; Awaken Empress; Inna Wellness; Dakini Tantra — exclusions justified with textual proof in the dedicated section.

Appendix F — Bibliography and sitography

Criterion: the sources cited in the present document are listed, ordered by country/area, with a P marker (official primary source) or C (corroboration/context). The full Round I sitography (~150 URLs) and the cumulative one of Rounds I–IV (~240 verified sources) are declared, not reproduced.

Overall breadth. The ~240 verified sources and the ~150 Round I URLs represent the last stage of a wider funnel: over 60 numbered queries, 2 dedicated search modules and the Round IV corroboration queries in 9 languages; the scrutiny of the returned results, quantifiable as a process order of magnitude in several thousand items; the detailed examination of over 100 candidate offerings; the point-by-point verification of the sources with extraction of textual quotes; the double coding of the 16 final rows.
